Something for everyone; Double Release!

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-07-31 at 17:12

Do you remember the post I wrote about "killer designs" a while back? I never really said what design I'm expecting to be the next one of that kind. Well, now it's here and we'll see if I'm right - feast your eyes on "I'm innocent!" In a way I hope I'm not because today (out of all days) I forgot to take the access codes to my bank account with me and if all 500 shirts are gone before tomorrow morning I'm going to miss it myself. That would be harsh.

One of the things that I feel we could develop in the products themselves is the size of the printed design. This shirts serves as an excellent example of how it should be done; it's not like the design has to be on the chest only (or on the chest at all). Also that way the design has been taken into another level - thanks to Laurent.

Watch out though - this certainly isn't all we got. Mad'-line is once again serving the female audience with a real treat; today we're not only offering a shirt or a top but a whole set. "In my Dreams" is really cool cutesy cute design by DeLmoucheT'aspiquée. Pretty close to a cuteness overdose even, but in a delightful way. To keep it appropriate I better just show you the lovely pics Lutz has taken for us. Sometimes I envy him.

By the way, I've got a serious amount email from you waiting to be answered. Please be patient - I'm working on them, but it will take a while to get it all done. :)

Assembly, here I come

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-07-31 at 10:20

Last year I attended the Assembly for the first time as a favour to my friend Tuula. She had assisted me on photography in a couple of events and now that she needed an assistant to her team I felt I couldn’t really refuse. Not even if I feel a couple of hundred years too old for huge LAN-party (…and yeah, I know most people don't really like when I refer to the Assembly as such).

I’m glad I did though. It was really interesting but I still said I’d never do it again. Then she asked me again to do the photography for the first Assembly Winter-event with her and I somehow said “yes.” After that I decided that I’m definitely not doing this again but guess what? Assembly ’07 starts on Thursday and I’m already hauling my old whiny ass over there today.

Most of my week from Monday to Sunday goes for the Assembly.org. Loads of geeks, too much junkfood, cool democompos and not enough sleep. Nice, nice… but this is REALLY going to be the last time for me. All that stuff will eventually suck the life out of me. :D

The third reprint is now available

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-07-31 at 09:34

It really makes sense that this shirt was released on a Monday (even though all reprints are). After the weekend life may seem like a giant ball of twine – a feeling that is familiar propably to most of us. I’m a huge fan of designs that are very simple yet deliver a message almost everyone can relate to. So, once again massive respect to Pagan! I ordered his last winner print immediately and I propably have to do the same with this reprint.

…and guess what? Yeah, it glows in the dark. ^_^

"My Life" in our store.

I'm also pretty sure you're happy to hear Steffi has reduced the prices of a whole pack of shirts; "Rockshard test", "My First Backflip", "Oh!", "Music", "Wok'n'Roll" and "Fuyez" are now available for 11€ / shirt.

Friday game - Hall of Fame!

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-07-27 at 15:00

Hello again, my dear community members? Wonderful day, isn't it?

I was browsing our hall of fame yesterday and decided to take screenshots of 10 designs we've printed. Below you see 10 partial screenshots of old designs and the game today is to recognize all the designs and the designers. The fastest user to do this will recieve enough brouzoufs for a t-shirt (shipping included) of choice to his/her user account.

I'm really curious to see how long this will take… ;)

To be clear I want the answers in this form:

1) [Design's name] (by [username])

2) [Design's name] (by [username])

3) …

Happy hunting!

New Mademoiselle-shirt available!

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-07-27 at 11:55

A new shirt from my favourite designer – if only I was a girl!

Casajordi, one of our best known designers with an easily identifiable style and a charming persona (I had the pleasure of meeting him briefly in Paris), has created a real treat for the Mad’-collection. “Inventaire” shows us a pack of well known women – some of them real and some of them imaginary. Naturally this is done with a delicious print that pretty much has me drooling all over the place.

Great stuff! I’d wear one. If only they’d fit me. I don't think I'd look too good wearing a fuschia top though. ;)

Two new EU-winners!

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-07-26 at 09:39

Finally it's the time to announce the next EU-winners! Two were chosen and we're printing 250 shirts of each design. We used this practise for the german site in june and do it for the EU-site in july because we haven't yet reached a steady flow of voters - we're getting better with that every week though and that's really nice to notice. Designers get 500e each and the one I've been able to reach has already agreed to this.

Unfortunately I still haven't been able to reach the other winner (I've tried for over two weeks now and that's why I've delayed this post) but with any luck this'll help. First of our two new winners is PsyKopaT with his design "DJ SHOUT".

The second winner is Martu with his design "say it …don´t spray it!!!" Martu, as soon as you see this please drop me a few lines to jouni@lafraise.com

Even though both winning designs are presented on white background that's something that might still change. Congratulations to both designers - I love this part of my job!

Ladies want more designs

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-07-25 at 10:24

If you check out the Mad’-section on the EU-site (…and on the german too) you’ll understand what our female users mean by that; if there’s only a few designs to choose from the voting isn’t much fun. The low amount of designs submitted is mostly due to a very obvious reason. It’s july, most people are on their holidays and even the ones that are not like to take a few breaks and have a picnic in a park rather than sit behind the drawingboards all day long.

Still it would be great to have more designs on the Mad’-competition. The girls want their shirts! Most of the designs we’re getting for that one consist of florals and such which I really do think is underestimating the taste of our female users. Then again I’m a guy myself and have never really understood the way the female mind works. So, it propably makes sense to ask the girls themselves what they like. This is your chance – give feedback and tell us & the designers what you want.

The first german winner hits our store!

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-07-25 at 09:41

Little over a month ago we selected our first german and EU-winners. Now the first german winner is available in our store! “Sunshineflip” was printed on 500 white shirts and the style of the design nicely sets the german community’s way apart from our French mother. Now I’m eagerly looking forward to the day when the first EU-winner arrives to our store… ;)

Le Big Geraldo has done a nice job with this one and I sure to see more stuff from him in the future also.

The second reprint is now available

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-07-23 at 12:50

Last Monday I told you that we’re doing a few reprints and announced the first one. Most of those shirts have been sold out for days already – only a small amount of them are still available for our laFraise-girls out there. I had the pleasure of wearing mine over the weekend and am quite excited to announce the second reprint; "Samurai Shadows" is here!

The design has been tweaked a bit from the original and 500 of these are now available in black but not for long! Massive respect to Neil for making this one.

Next Monday there will yet another one… wonder which design it’ll be. I can honestly say I don’t even know myself.

Farewell, old friend - you’ve become an enemy

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-07-23 at 10:41

Today I decided to quit smoking. Once again. In a very very dark way it’s hilarious how that decision actually filled every part of my body with pure terror. I only had my last cigarette some 10 minutes ago and I’m actually shaking and feeling really sick. Not because of the cigarette but because a part of my mind refuses the idea and is telling the rest of me I can’t do this. That I can’t just give up using the drug that has been there for me for years and years.

Still, I have to do this. I’ve had a terrible cough for weeks now and even though that’s partly because I had a nasty flu a couple of weeks back I know smoking certainly isn’t helping any. I’m so tired of coughing endlessly until every muscle in my system hurts and I feel like throwing up.

How did I ever end up becoming a smoker anyway? It’s one of the three most retarted things I’ve done in my life and I’ve done quite a few of those – believe me. Still, I have a bunch of fond memories that are closely related to smoking. The cigarettes have been there for me when it has felt like the rest of the world has united against me. They have comforted me when I’ve felt miserable. They have celebrated the high points of life with me. But this friendship comes with a price that I’m not willing to pay; it’s clear that it will eventually take my health. So, farewell old friend. You’ve become a powerful enemy.

The blogger is going cold turkey now so excuse me if I’m in lousy mood for a few days. If any of you smokers out there would like to share this experience with me, please report yourself and we can quit together.
