Friday game - Jouni’s Fridge!

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-07-20 at 14:52

I enjoyed reading your answers to last week's Friday game, so here’s another picture for you.

My fridge is kind of a sorry sight at the moment as you can clearly see. Why does it look the way it does and why in the hell do I have loads of orange juice and pretty much nothing else? Naturally, I know the answer to that myself but I want hear your version of it.

The best answer gets enough brouzoufs for a free t-shirt from our selection (shipping included). You have until midnight (GMT) tonight to submit your answer to the comments section of this entry!

New shirt is available in the store!

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-07-20 at 14:25

Now here’s a shirt quite a few of you have been waiting for – 500 pieces of “Lost in My Mind” have been printed and are available in asphalt. The print itself is really cool; it looks like it’s been done with silver ink but in reality that’s just really nice shading done with white and grey (and the blue, of course). I’ll let the pics do the talking!

The first thing I had to say about this design was “I’m so getting this if it gets printed” and that’s the way I still feel. Great job, Cuypi! It’s not often we get to see a nice surrealistic stuff like this with considerable graffiti and street art influences.

"Lost in My Mind" in our store.

New winners!

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-07-20 at 09:55

We have a new Mademoiselle-winner from the german site; Annapackts’ “TreeOfLights.” A really nice and fresh print – definitely not the “traditional laFraise style.”

Also, here’s the newest stuff from the French winners; “Imagination V2” by Presse. 500 white shirts coming your way in a bit!

You may wonder where the EU-winners are because I kinda promised them for you last week. Well, they’ve been selected but I haven’t been able to reach the other designer yet so I’ve held back announcing them. On Monday you’ll get at least the other one (I don’t want to keep you and the designer waiting anymore) and I’m hoping both.

The shirt gone “oops”

Some you may have been wondering why our newest shirt is in the store for 11€ already. From what I understood there’s been a slight bump in the process; “Man who sold his soul” was supposed to be printed in two different colors (army & brown – 250 shirts each) and also the colors on the design itself should vary depending on the shirt’s color. Unfortunately we printed 500 of them on the army shirts using the colors we should’ve used on the brown version.

It happens. Our apologies to the designer and the community – we will print the shirt again accordingly but until then you can buy this version pretty damn cheap!

PS. While I was writing this my "Skywalker & Son" arrived in mail. I'm so happy now!

Slogans 2.0

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-07-20 at 08:42

It’s only fair to say our Slogans section has been pretty dead especially on the EU-site for quite some time now. The founder of the site, Patrice, used to print the best slogans on t-shirts from time to time but we haven’t really done that in a long while – simply because that wouldn’t make sense for laFraise at the moment. Even so we think the slogans are a pretty cool and nice thing to have on the site. They’re a form of creative competing everyone can be a part of. You don’t have to be a designer to come up with a neat slogan that has an impact on people. They either make you laugh or catch your attention on another level.

Therefore we have now decided that we want to activate the Slogans section again but with a little twist; a winner will be chosen from the EU-site alone twice a month, the slogan gets printed on a limited amount of buttons and the winner gets a shirt of his/her choice (shipping included). So, to but it in another way; the Slogans section will be kind of an ongoing Friday game from now on. I will choose the first winner from the old slogans we already have based on the amount of comments, votes and also my personal taste. This will happen within the next few days and I’ll keep you updated on that.

I think the buttons will be nice little side-order with the shirts. Some of the slogans we’ve had have made me laugh pretty hard and I’m surely going to order some of them myself – I’m ordering our shirts just about twice a month myself and the buttons will be cheap. It’s not something we’re doing to create revenue but just because we can and because it’s funky.

Put on your writing slippers, your thinking cap and participate!

The reprints are here

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-07-17 at 21:23

Some of you have been secretly dreaming of it, some of you thought that the day would never come, the craziest of you had launched petitions, but in vain: when a 500 laFraise t-shirt series is sold-out, no reprints are to be expected.

And then, we opened up to new countries and new community members, the demand subsequently arose: numerous legendary designs are as in demand as ever. Dilemma, red or blue pill ? Cake or ice cream ? We finally decided to have a nice slice of pleasure.

This is how we came up with reediting a small number of sold-out designs, but always tweaked by the designers themselves to keep them fresh and innovative. Indeed, the original editions will always be collector items.

The names will remain undisclosed, this is a big surprize, so wait, cross your fingers and wish on a star. The icing on the cake will be the customized neckline labels on each t-shirt of the series (including the designer's name).

8 legends will be in store after undergowing a small face lift (one each week throughout the summer), alongside of the regular selected laFraise t-shirts.

To make this fun and entertaining for all, we have handpicked 4 designs ourselves, and it will be up to both the designers and the community members to choose 2 each of the 4 remaining lucky winners!

The first design that we decided to reprint was Legojeff's "Skywalker & Son" and this modified classic has now been available little over 24 hours. I would've blogged about it earlier but I just came back from France a few hours ago myself and to be honest I felt quite relieved when I noticed that we still have the shirt in size L. Unfortunately it's already sold out in XL and XXL (both male) - little over 300 of the 500 sold so far. If you want one the time is now or never!

Reprints are something we debated about a whole lot. Some members of the team supported the idea and some were against it. I was one of the people that strongly felt we shouldn't do it at all, but now that we're actually doing it I'm excited like a kid in a candystore. I love the chance of getting myself some of the classics even though the prints are not exactly the same as in the original shirts. Having said that I'm happy this isn't something we plan to make a habbit of. After we've printed the 8 modified classics we're going back to the normal laFraise schedule.

A brief hello from Paris

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-07-16 at 13:18

Hello hello, my beloved community!

I'm still in Paris and won't be back home in Finland until late tomorrow afternoon. By only reading the EU-blog at the moment you're missing out on things because I don't currently have the time to report about them. Please check out the french blog for many interesting things and I will give the full update in english just as soon as I get home.

Meanwhile, here are a few photos from Paris…

Friday game : What’s in the box?

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-07-13 at 17:25

Today's friday game is very basic. Below you see an image of our very own Camille hiding under a table.

What is Camille so happy about and what do you think she has in the box?

The best answer wins enough brouzoufs for a spanking new fresh t-shirt from our collection (shipping included). You have until sunday midnight (GMT) to give me your answer. Have fun with it - I sure did when I took the picture! :)

Little guy in a big city

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-07-12 at 18:18

I've now reached Paris and after wandering around for a while I even found the hotel. Well, in order to find I had to take a cab and it turned out the hotel was two blocks away. I felt somewhat ashamed when I noticed that. After a nice refreshing shower I'm as good as new and I've even almost forgotten the bad experience I had with german beer on the Munich airport - I actually found a brand of beer that was some lame I didn't feel like finishing the pint I bought. That has never ever happened before.

My first impression of Paris is that there's a whole load of graffiti in here; wildstyle burners in 20 colors, simple huge silverpieces, tags, throwups, old school, new school, true school, pieces right next to each other, pieces on top of each other. The place is simply BOMBED. I pretty much love that as I'm a fan of graffiti art but even for me the amount is quite overwhelming.

At the moment I'm at our office with Lâm, Sophie and Guillaume making this little and fast blog entry. I'm planning on leaving soon to explore the city. It's huge for a finnish guy. Really really huge. The metro system is kind of confusing but I'm getting the hang of it and I'm sure the metro map will be my best friend during the next few days.

Photos will follow. I'm also hoping I'll have the time to blog about a few official things tomorrow; we have a couple of new EU-winners and the slogan section is changing a bit. Stay tuned - now I'm going to the Père Lachaise cemetery now to hang out with Jim Morrison!

Paris here I come!

…and I come bearing gifts. ^^
