New shirts available

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-08-23 at 20:22

Finally we’ve got the official shirts for the geeky couples out there – "Mr. Geek" and "Mrs. Geek" have arrived! I’m so getting these for me and the missus when I get my next paycheck if they’re still available. Is anyone really surprised that the designs are by cuypi – a man that is about to become a legend.

I recall calling someone a geek a decade ago was more than slightly offensive. These days many of my friends proudly declare themselves as geeks. I even consider myself one – maybe not in a generic way, but I have many geeky qualities. This kinda makes me wonder; has the tone of the expression really changed this much or is it only because it’s easier to accept who you are when you’re a bit older? One way or another, let’s celebrate our inner and outer geeks!

By the way, if you’re a geekboy or a geekgirl and still single I still recommend you to buy both of the shirts. Based on first hand experience I can tell you that geeks get the best guys and girls. It doesn’t hurt to have the shirt ready and it might even help you on your quest of finding your other half.

"Mr. Geek" (silver) in our store.

"Mrs. Geek" (pink) in our store.

Some of our shirts have now been available in the States for a week. As you’ve propably noticed we’re not actually shipping to the US (not all products are available and they won’t be sent out from Europe when an order comes in) – we’re sending 100 of the 500 shirts we print straight to our office in the new world and they’re selling them through a dedicated Spreadshop. Yes, that’s right – it means that 400 shirts will be available in Europe and 100 in the US which makes the shirts even more exclusive on both continents.

It would be great to get some feedback from the early adapters – our first American customers, that is. If you’re one of them please drop us a line or two. Tell us what you think about our products, the selection, the shop, the theme competition we’re running at the moment… whatever comes in your mind. Your opinion is greatly appreciated and very important for us.

Our newest shirt

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-08-22 at 08:51

I was away for a few days and during that time we got 5 new shirts. Uhms, right now it feels like blogging about them is going to take forever but I’m sure that’s not true. Still the amount of new shirts tells a nice story of how often our product selection is updated – which is naturally great news for our customers. If you don’t like the selection today, come back tomorrow! :)

Our newest shirt is “I Eat Music Everyday” – now available in teal and brown. It’s a very funky design by Mathias22. Just to keep this short and sweet I’ll let the photos do the talking once again.

Robocopped

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-08-22 at 08:20

OMG, I've been robocopped! Well, not really but that's the way I feel with my brand new wrist support. Working long hours on a computer for a long period of time can damage your health and my doctor wasn't too happy when she checked out my right hand. I have a "mouse wrist", she says.

I told her there's no chance in hell for me to "take it easy" as I'm a freelancer and my livelyhood depends on how much I work. Not even if my wrist has been troubling me for the past 6 months already. Well, I was told I may continue banging the keyboard for now but need to wear a support with a metal plate inside to minimize the movement of my wrist. It feels weird.

There's a whole load of stuff I haven't blogged about and really need to in order to keep you updated. So, expect one post after another this week and bare with it even if it feels like I'm flooding you! <3

Friday game - Doggie dog world

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-08-17 at 14:54

Hello dear community – I’m back!

I loved the game we had a couple of weeks back with Stuf’s doll and this week’s game is of similar nature. Well, in a way it is. Below you see a picture of a cute little dog with an empty thought bubble right next to it. What’s on the dog’s mind?

Take the photo and put something into the empty bubble. It can be only one word or image. Then again, it may also be a short story or whatever as long as it fits into the bubble. Do not edit the picture in any other way or go over the lines or you will be disqualified – this is serious business!

When you’re done, publish the picture and post the URL on the comments of this entry. The funniest entry wins and naturally I’m the one that calls the shots on what’s funny and what not, bwahahaa! *grim laugh*

The winner gets enough brouzoufs for a t-shirt of his/her choice from our selection – shipping included. Since the task is easy, you have until midnight (GMT) tonight to complete it!

Many thanks to Karo Holmberg for the photo. <3

About the American Politics contest

From Lam, on 2007-08-15 at 17:33

Hey, just a reminder : our special contest is about American Politics, not American Way Of Life ! I'm sorry to reject so much nice designs, but they're simply off target. So please, keep the topic in mind;)

Go go Jouni

As Jouni's girlfriend has been abducted by pervert E.T's, our favorite blogger had to jump into a Lamborghini and go rescue her. While he'll annihilate the threat on his love (and the free world), I'll help here, housecleaning, moderating and buying some candles.

The birthday party

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-08-12 at 07:01

I’ve been somewhat absent during this week and since I already mentioned I’ve been organizing my own birthday party I though I might as well blog about it.

Above you see the flyer of the party. It will be held from noon to 9pm today at Auroran kenttä, Helsinki, Finland. The park is pretty much in the backyard of Finlandia House, one of the buildings finns like to show to foreigners when they visit our country. Some 500 people are expected but it’s hard to tell what the final amount is going to be (might be significantly lower or higher) since the weather is a bit unstable at the moment. The main idea is to play some nice music with friends, relax, have a picnic and play some yard games at the same time. We’ve tried to create an atmosphere where everyone is welcome and families will feel safe to take their youngsters with them.

The "Auroran kenttä" park in Helsinki

The event hasn’t always been this big. I started it in 2002 with some 30 friends or so. Next year 60 people came, the year after that we had big rainstorms and only ~40 attended. In 2005 I applied for permits and the event was moved to another park – some 200 people came. Last year was a huge hit; the weather was really nice and some 600 people visited the event. It was really nice but kinda scary at the same time.

Some photos from 2002-2006

10 DJ’s (including myself) and 1 live PA will be playing this year. LaFraise is also a part of the event and I will tell you more about that later on. If you’re in Helsinki, please join us for the celebration! …and oh yes, almost forgot to tell you (but I guess you figured from the flyer already); the name of the event is "Afternoon in the Sun (2007)."

Freaky dolls <3

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-08-12 at 06:10

Last friday's friday game was pretty awesome. Below you'll see small versions of what you people came up with!

All of them are great but one of them is just a notch better than the others in my eyes:

Congratulations Candice! You brouzoufs will be transferred to your account shortly.

Friday game - Old shirts & memories!

From Jouni_crew, on 2007-08-10 at 21:54

Ok, the friday game is FINALLY here. Sorry about the huge delay but this week has been really hectic for me. On sunday I'm having my birthday party (~500 people are expected to attend) and there have been some last minute complications I just had to deal with before anything else.

Enough about that though and let's talk about the game; I was cleaning up the house yesterday (because my apartment looks terrible and I'm expecting a german friend over tomorrow) and when I was doing that I found my oldest t-shirt. It's something I've kept for 12 years now even if I haven't really worn it since 1995. When I saw it a flood of memories caught me by surprise - I might explain it a bit more when the game is over.

This week I'd like you to locate your oldest t-shirt, take a picture of it, publish it online and post the URL with a little story about the shirt. Why do you still have it? What does the shirt represent to you?

The user with a best story and a photo will receive enough brouzoufs for a t-shirt of his/her choice (shipping included) from our selection. You have until sunday midnight (GMT). Have fun riding down the memory lane!
