“Jordan Brand has a new sneaker coming out this Fall/Holiday season, its called the Jordan Blase. The word blasé means sophisticated or even very sophisticated to some dictionaries and that’s what the sneaker is, its a sleek or “very sophisticated” Air Jordan sneaker. Sorry for the lack of updates guys, I’ve been in Berlin since Monday and I’ve been in-and-out of meetings.

A small personal update though, I just recently got news that a sneaker design I made a month back is now being sold in full production.

I’m leaving for Berlin later today to meet up with the laFraise crew. In the meantime I’ll keep you guys occupied with some imagery from ffffound.com as is the tradition on Mondays.

Well we don’t always have a chance to interview our artists here at laFraise, but since we wouldn’t be around without you guys, we figured it was time to start.

First up is Scien & Klor from the “infamous” 123Klan who you have no doubt seen around at some point and time. From working with Kidrobot to Adidas you can’t avoid them.

Who is 123Klan?

Hello we are Scien & Klor, founders of the infamous 123klan, a graffiti crew
founded back in 1992 but we now run our creative studio under the same name.

We’ve been working for many different projects and for different clients,
from logos to character design, from street wear to toy design, we’ve even had worked in the video game industry.

Clients include: Nike, Stussy, Mini Austin Cooper, Sony PSP,
Adidas, Carhartt, Johnny Cupcakes, Kidrobot, Zoo York, Ecko, Triumvir and
many more…

 
How would you describe your style and how did you come up with your
current style?

Our style is simple and effective, 300% vectorial we alwayz try to give our
best in everything we do. So our current style is a mix between fun, High
Kicks in the face (or middle in the balls as you want) and hard work.
 
What did you think about tshirt design contests in general before you
joined laFraise?

Well, we usually hate contests and don’t participate to most of them, as it
usually depends on people’s taste and not based on designers skills,
but on Lafraise you get some nice designs and also a cool state of mind, so
it was a pleasure to take part in it, we felt on laFraise it was more about sharing something rather than winning something, to be honest, and at least if you get chosen you get some extra euros.
 
How did you find out about laFraise?

We’ve known of laFraise for many years now, I think the founder which is French sent
us an email a few years ago. We also have some friends who aren’t designers
who have bought alot of cool tees on Lafraise.

 
Who or what has been the biggest influence in your work? (artists or
people you look up to)

We don’t really know, I mean we are inspired by many things,
it could be a graffiti piece, a nice picture or an old sign painting. Many
things in fact, but if we have to name specific people:
Dondi, Bando, TKid, Herb Lubalin, Designers Republic, Neville Brody, but we
are also inspired by Japanese logos or NCAA mascotts, colors, many things in fact…
 
When you aren’t designing, what’r you doing?

We paint walls, we drink, we eat, we sleep, we hang out with the kids, we
get drunk with friends, we party, we travel, we spend money, we go to the
pool, we go to the gym, we go to the restaurant, we’re pretty average.

 
Imagine you are an evil villian, I mean like ‘eating puppies’ evil, what
would your villianous name be and what special power would you have?

We can’t be villains because we are Jedis, and our power is to give our best
in everything we do, be nice to people and kill haters kindly with style.
 
And last, what has been the one thing you’ve always wanted to do as a designer?

Maybe to design a tail plane for an A380. Now that would be awesome or maybe an album cover for the Beastie Boys.
