From J3Concepts (Crew), on 2009-07-22 at 19:05

Posted by Marius Bauer:

With the 2009 Relaunch of Sublevel.us we started a new Online Store for selected graphics artists to feature their work on a limited series of high quality art prints. One artist will be featured at a time and getting the full attention throughout the whole shop. The beginning is made by laFraise´s very own Jared Nickerson. His new work “These Diamond Days of Oblivion” is now available as a limited series in the store. Every order will come with a small present and the special address label which features the logo of the selected artist on the packaging. Be sure to check it out and get your Diamond Days before they are gone ;)

Guest Artist of the Week: Konstantin Shalev

Welcome to our “Guest of the Week” series. This will be our first installment featuring laFraise artist, Konstantin Shalev.

When asked about himself, Konstantin says:

“I was born in Poland, the city of Legnica in 1986, and then my parents moved to Russia to the city of Krasnodar, and now I live here in the countryside. I graduated from Kuban State University majoring in graphic design, my main specialty was packaging, but I was more interested in illustration. I have been riding a skateboard for 6 years, sponsored by local skateshop and have won prizes in regional competitions. Skateboarding has largely influenced my style of drawing and my interests. I love listening to indie-rock, metal, punkrock, but I ride skateboard only listening to rap. One day I stumbled upon LaFraise and posted a recently drawn illustration without even hoping to win, before I’ve never tried to send my works to contests. What a surprise it was, when I won 1000 Euro, I thought that this was simply unreal. Since then I began to draw more pictures, and began to develop. After winning the second time I was double happy.”

We asked him about his view on laFraise, and what he likes/dislikes about us:

“As for LaFraise, it helps me develop my skills, and I receive feedback for most works, it helps me grow.
I love LaFraise! Thanks to LaFraise I’ve been payed money and don’t have to go to the army, and I can continue to develop and draw, rather than march :)”

Konstantin’s (For Fun) Weekly Selection is:

“This week, I liked the work “In the mood for funk” by Reack, I like his style and fonts, as well as I liked the approach to minute details of the robot in “Mix’o matoz” by beyond the church. I am a huge fan of his works! I liked the work “Que lache” by I_am_Jonas. The font composition is pretty good, nice character, but maybe different color of T-shirts? and I liked “Kid” P “” by svenh.

Perhaps these are not the works I like best; my choice was made on the basis of votes in the gallery, and I really like the style of “FrigoBanjo“, “akrapf“, “SHORT“, “playmoO“, “Niark1“, “zombiecorp“.”

Thank you Konstantin, always a pleasure to have you on laFraise!
