A new partnership is on the doorstep- laFraise and Clark Magazine start a special contest on Monday.
Clark is France’s no. 1 lifestyle and culture magazine for graphics, art, fashion and music. The magazine was founded in February 2001 by a young team from the underground scene. At the beginning, the task was easy – there was no comparable magazine on the market which combined all their different interests into one.
With its 8 years experience, Clark now collaborates with the most popular names within the art scene for their covers (Parra, Mike Giant, Reas, Ed Templeton, Sheypard Fairey, Pam…). The magazine is published bi-monthly, and is available in kiosks and selected shops.
Clark focuses on the 18-35 years old, urban, ambitious and curious avant-gardes and opinion leaders – a magazine published by enthusiasts for enthusiasts.
The magazine’s influences are clear: pop art and the 60s, D.I.Y. culture from the 70s/80s, street culture from the 90s as well as the newest trends in graphic art, music, fashion and technology. Former fringe scenes like rock, rap, electro, skateboarding, graffiti and streetwear are nowadays all the more important and popular among both the young and the young at heart.
The contest
We will organize a contest with Clark every two months. The winner will be chosen by the Clark team and will receive €1,500 for the design, as well as have an interview published in Clark Magazine along with the design. Of course, the design will also be printed on 500 laFraise shirts.
The topic
Clark: past, present, future – the here and now is one with the future. This is the most unique medium with a claim to always be on the cutting edge – both visually and in substance.
This isn’t about creating a promotional design for Clark, but rather about designing within their editorial boundaries. The design should represent Clark through its illustration alone, not with the use of their logo.
Submissions
From 7th – 21st September 2009, 3:30 p.m. CET
