Interview Pasquéoz

where-to-attackWhere to attack? by Pasqueoz

Pigeons are sometimes not really nice and Pasqueoz demonstrates their attack’s plan with the funny t-shirt Where to attack?. Let’s discover who is Pasqueoz and if he likes pigeons himself?
Hi Pasqueóz,

Please introduce yourself to those in the community who don’t know you yet. How and why did you get into graphic design?

Hi, my mane is Charles, I’m 25 years old and I’m a graphic designer at Ankama (in Roubaix). I’ll use my joker card to answer the question about my studies, but to make it simple, it has a happy end! My first steps into graphic design were from school and them with laFraise mostly. Let’s have a look at the gallery with my first steps: images in CMYK, I used dynamic vector a lot, I drew with the mouse but I do not say anything about refused designs!!! Here are some examples of what I found out with nostalgia (With a strange feeling similar to solitude).

Tell us the story of “Where to attack”? What inspired you and how did you create the design? Did you have any difficulties?
At first the design represented two pigeons on a tree branch about to poop on the baby of a nice lady having a walk there. And to be honest, I do not know where the idea came from … I’m never convinced by my drawings, by the situation, I put the idea aside, later on I changed it a bit so that it became more subtle (according to me). Here is how I work:
-    Sketches
-    Scan
-    Trace in flash, drawing itself (The funniest part) and trace of different colour zones.
-    EPS and then Illustrator and choice of Pantone colours

Do you live in a city where pigeons are a nightmare? Have you experienced a pigeon attack? Do you like or hate them, why?
I live in Lille and pigeons are part of life here. I’ve already seen some kind of attacks but never on me. The real fights are more psychological: fight with your eyes to see who will make the move to go in another direction. Do I like them? Well, no, pigeon = no idea = No design = no t-shirt = euh … no T-shirt! So yes I do like them!

If you were a pigeon, where would you attack?
I would have answered “the tonsils without hesitation”! But I would say the coca cola can, with the right aim, without even lightly touching the corners, so that the tasting surprise would be complete! :-)

Have you ever had a lack of inspiration and what do you do when that happens?
Oh yes! In that case, I have a look at competitor’s websites and I copy and copy, with this technique, people never notice! No seriously, when it happens, I try not to think about it and I wait for something to then bring new ideas.

Who is your favourite artist/designer at the moment? Why?
Tony Moore, for his excellent work on the first edition of The Walking Dead! But I also like Charlie Adlard’s work in the next editions :-)

If you were not a graphic designer, what would you have done for a living?
Good question!

What is your laFraise top 3 t-shirts?
Not an easy one but I would say:
- le Père Noël est une ordure de Pandaluna
- Lapin Love de Cuypi
- Tarte  aux poussins de TED-BOUNDY

Pick up the moon

Pick up the moon by MrWayne

Let’s celebrate the come back of the nice and cool t-shirt Pick up the moon by MrWayne.
Hi MrWayne, nice to see you back for a second interview!

Nath lf crew*: Would you like to go to the moon?
I do not really know! Going to the moon must remain a child’s dream and I don’t think I want to grow old!

Nath lf crew*: If we pick the moon up for you, what would it be for?
Very hard question, I never thought about it before! Maybe world peace, is that a good answer?

Support my vector*: Are you John Wayne?
No, I don’t think so.

Lulu*: Wayne … any relation with John?
Even though I saw a lot of westerns with my dad as a kid, my pseudo does not come from that.

Zafeu *: To get to work, do you use your bike, public transportation or the bat mobile?
I still need some prints at laFraise and then I will buy a Bat mobile (electric of course) and if you want I’ll give you a ride!

Florent*: With the 1,000 Euros, will you buy full equipment for your Bat mobile or will you party with Cat woman?
I will use it to buy more dresses for Cat woman  ;)

Clémentine*: What is the story behind the boy and the astronaut? Do you listen to music or do you read? Are you inspired by music or books? How do you maintain your creativity?
So the story behind this design … I love to draw the little adventures my children experience and it came when a balloon blew out of my son’s hands. In order to dry his tears, I told him I would get him the biggest balloon in the world … so I’m kind of the astronaut and a little like one of those fathers who would do anything for their kid!

Music: as soon as I start drawing, I listen to music and it is obvious: I draw a lot when I’m listening to music. At the moment I’m into folk with Mmford and sons, Edward Sharpe, Bon Iver as well as all of Muse’s albums and even more!

I do not read that much, some comics but only from time to time! And they inspire me as well as does everything else I can see.

I always maintain my creativity, it is hidden somewhere in a part of my brain and with calm and thoughts, it comes out of its hiding place.

Nath Graphics lf crew*: Mr Wayne, is your name related to Wayne’s World?
Nathalie not at all even if this cult movie rocked my teenage years. (Party time! Excellent!)

Sébastien C*: What is your favourite software? How do you choose colours for your designs?

First of all I use Photoshop to work on my basics drawings and then Illustrator to finalize it and to put colours on the design. But I do not have any favourite or specific software. I love both of them, they complete themselves!

As for the colours I try to find the right harmony that fits the theme I’ve chosen!

Nath Graphics lf crew*: When you create a design do you draw first with a pencil, do you work with collage or do you draw directly on Illustrator?
As I said above, I start drawing on a paper with a pencil, I re-work it on Photoshop and I finalize with Illustrator (Am I a broken record here? ;))

Sébastien C*: What is your style of reading?
I do not have any style as I do not read or only occasionally some comics.

Nath lf crew*: If you were an animal, which one would you be?
I would be a cat because when I look at mine, I tell myself that it has a good life (eat, sleep, pee, poo, eat, sleep)

Floriane R*: What do you think of outdoor hen’s abortion? Are you saddened by Paul the Octopus’s death?
I do not think that much so far they are outdoors and I’m fine with it! I still cry for him (RIP Paul)

Marie lf crew*: When will you make a website or a portfolio?
The website is my personal challenge for this year!

I would like to thank Nath, Support my vector, Lulu, Zafeu, Florent, Clémentine, Sébastien C, Floriane R et Marie for this interview and also thanks to the crew and to all the community for your support! Thanks!

Judgement Day

Judgement Day by Vinsse

Vinsee and his hunting rabbit presents the new funny shirt Judgement Day, hunters watch out!

Hi Vinsse, it’s round two for Judgment Day: here are some funny questions and I hope you will like them!

Nath (lf crew): Do you like hunting? Are there any hunters in your family?
I did opening day like every year, and I’ve trained hard on the cats living in the district  :-)

Nath (lf crew): The rabbit killed the hunter … aren’t you a fan of Chantal Goya?
Indeed and that is a way to look at it! A tribute to Chantal!

Nath (lf crew): Do you like rabbit stew? Any old memories working here?
Rabbits are too cute to be eaten and I think that hunter stew is much more appetizing.

Nath (lf crew): Where did you get the idea for judgment day? Did you have any difficulties?
I love the revenge theme and the role reversal. It is an idea I come across quite often in my work.

Nath (lf crew): Do you feel more in the role of the rabbit or the role of the hunter?
I feel mostly in the role of the hunting rabbit.

Nath (lf crew): What does your playlist look like at the moment?
At the moment I’m still on Beat torrent.

Nath (lf crew): Have you written your wish list to Santa Claus yet?
Between a trip to Amsterdam and lots of useless toys, I still do not know …

MultiCrass’: For this design, it looks like did point to point work, where did this idea come from?
I created this design with a graphic pad so the point to point came naturally.

Nath (lf crew): Your expectations for 2011?
Lots of new prints ! :-)

MultiCrass’: Do you like comics or Manga and, if so which ones?
I’ve read a lot at some time but I calmed down now. My must haves for Mangas are 20 Century boy, Monster, Gto, Katsuo … And as for comics: all of Bilal’s comics of course, Bouncer, all of Corto’s … Well I would say that I love all the classics. Recently I’ve been offered all Supermurgeman’s comics and it’s great!

MultiCrass’: Do you like the TV show “Hunting and Fishing”?
As a real insomniac hunter, I watch them all and never miss an episode, and when I do, I record them of course. My favorite TV show is the one with the hunting of the ash partridge from the Bouscadet coast.

MultiCrass’ : What did you want to do when you grew up or what was your dream ?
As a kid I wanted to be a mercenary like my big bro.
