A few days ago, we told you about Tee Junction´s countdown to International T-Shirt Day. Today it´s our turn and we´re happy to announce laFraise´s initiative: we´re going to hand out 500 assorted t-shirts to a charity project proposed in the blog comments. Suggestions must be made before 6 p.m. (CET) on June 19th.

Please note: an empty personal wardrobe is not the kind of cause we´re looking for to support. We´re looking for projects like Skateistan - ambitious projects that really need t-shirts to help the people they are taking care of or to sell them for fundraising purposes.

We´re looking forward to receiving your suggestions!  Please include the following information in your descriptions:

  • name of the project
  • goal of the project
  • short description of how t-shirts could help the people the project supports
  • URL of the project website

Save The Date - June 21st is International T-Shirt Day

From Tobi (Crew), on 2009-06-08 at 16:03

June 21 is the day on which T-shirt fans worldwide will celebrate International T-Shirt Day for the second year in a row. There is already a virtual party room available online at www.t-shirtday.com, where t-shirt enthusiasts can get information about this year’s festivities surrounding the event.

laFraise and Spreadshirt will officially start off the short-sleeve season with an “Open Runway” in both Boston and Berlin, Germany. On this open-air fashion runway, T-shirt designers and T-shirt fans will have the opportunity to show their personal designs and looks centred around the world’s most universal clothing item.

However, the event will not only be celebrated in Boston and Berlin. The International T-Shirt Day is an initiative for all: whoever would like to celebrate at home in their own city or town can register their own celebrations at www.t-shirtday.com and use the site to attract guests to their party. A number of designers and both online and offline T-Shirt shops have already registered special activities in support of T-Shirt Day.

In order to wet the appitite for the holiday, T-shirt blogger Adam Fletcher started a countdown to T-Shirt Day which consists of daily contests, riddles and promotions on T-shirt blogs and T-shirt shops around the world. See his schedule here and keep your eyes open for laFraise´s initiative on June 12th.

Voting System Update

From J3Concepts (Crew), on 2009-03-11 at 09:19

Just a small update guys, you might have noticed that the voting system has changed. We’ve changed it from the regular and more confusing system to a system of averages. So the score is 3/10 or 7/10 etc.

Also depending on your level of participation in the community will also determine how much voting strength you have. I wont get into too much detail but the more you comment, purchase, submit, and win the more your essentially voting will count for.

So, the system is based on an average score out of 10 (ie: 6.45/10) and your community involvement determine how much your vote counts for.

Adidas Originals ZX8000

Being a big Adidas Originals fan these caught my eye at first glance, and even more so since it’s a laFraise employee selling these on Ebay. The price is very reasonable considering these are so rare, and by “rare” I mean only 22 pairs were produced and handed out to selected key retailers world wide.

More details checkout the Ebay page

You can also checkout Sneakernews, High Snobiety and HypeBeast for more of the story.

Also there is a special Youtube video on the making of the ZX8000, worth a watch:

Typography

From J3Concepts (Crew), on 2009-02-13 at 10:52

One of the things that took me the longest to get grips on as a designer was typography.

It’s always good in the beginning to start off with a base font to build off of. Fonts such as Arial Bold (Black) or Avant Garde Gothic LT are always a good start depending on the style and theme you are going for.

A great resource for free fonts is DaFont and for pay fonts try Veer. One of my current favs is Bookman Bold Swash, but a tad bit pricey.

For a good source in typography related works try Designm.ag, although not really being a style I enjoy they have a showcase of a number of talented artists.

New tee and new line of custom laFraise tees!!

From J3Concepts (Crew), on 2009-01-15 at 10:30

Well it’s that time again, we are back on track with printed tees coming out and we finally get to see some of the gems from the last few months. This next tee is printed on our custom line of laFraise tshirts (no more AA).

Meet the God of Hip Hop by Filter017. I love this one! Available now in the shop

Now additional to that, let me break down the new custom made laFraise tees.

The quality of the new shirts is a softer but tighter woven cotton. They are Silikon lined in shoulder seams, for better fit, so overuse won’t loosen the original shape of the shirt. They also have side seams for better fit and durability (no tube shirts!).

The shirts will still have the custom necklabels and care/wash instructions.

The size of AA tees varied so much that it was hard to always end up with the same sized shirt. With the new tees the size will match the size chart exactly, so no more guessing :)

The laFraise neckprint is not printed with the “transfer print” method anymore therefore you’ll get better, long lasting quality. The print itself is also improved to not wash out.

Sexy huh?
