Interview with Reynald

community interviews

This week we proudly present a nice and decent guy of our beloved community. Let’s read a bit about: Reynald!

Hi Reynald,

Please introduce yourself in a few sentences, where do you come from and what do you do?
Hello to you and all of the community! I come from Normandy and I live in la Haute Savoie. I’m in charge of communication for a collective, I am a bureaucrat, so of course I do not work that much.

How long have you known laFraise and how did you hear about it? What do you like about it?
Not easy to remember that one! I think I know laFaise from Spreadshirt. At the time I was looking for a Christmas present and I was surfing on laFraise then. At the first blink of an eye, I told myself Wow! I found the spirit of laFraise really cool and the designers are professionals. It’s been 6 years now (Call me Grandpa) and I’ve stayed loyal because laFraise offers a large range of designs for every taste and since I am a bit graphic designer myself, I rediscover this when I really appreciate a design.

What are your hobbies, passions and interests?
Well I’m searching but as there are more things that I don’t like, it is hard for me to answer that. The first twenty years of my life, I drew all the time (I loved that) but with studies and work, I don’t reall have time for it, then I started playing music, especially guitar which I still play. I love sport in general, video games, I read manga comics and I love doing interviews: it’s my passion (just kidding)

Reynald

Among all of your laFraise shirts, what are your top 3?
Well not that’s hard since I own only 3 laFraise shirts but I do not know their names (I know …) There is “Freaks rock your sale des fêtes”, a hamster suspended to a Fair Isle motive and the one I’m wearing in the picture. Actually I have gifted more t-shirts than I bought for myself.

Who is your favourite designer at laFraise?
None! Not that they are not good but I can’t find one in particular and I think that is what I like about laFraise. There are a lot of very good designers, new and old ones but I’m ashamed not remembering their names.

What are your expectations this year?
Well a big expectation has been already fulfilled with laFraise kids at the end of 2011: shirts for kids! I will get some for my son, then his mates will be jealous! As for the rest I do not know, maybe meet some people inside the community (Looks like a sect, doesn’t it?). As for laFraise, I wish it stays the same with the spirit and the quality of shirts and what about a new website with a search box?

What would you be if you were:
- A flower: I do love flowers …

- An animal: Oh my god! What is this interview? Can you ask me about politics instead? Do I really need to answer that? Well a tiger then because it is from my Chinese astrological sign or maybe a tiger with glasses.

- A celebrity (dead or alive): I would have liked to be a guitar hero such as Angus Young or Slash but it’s too late 

- A colour: Red (vermillion as a preference). Why? No idea!

- A music genre: Easy!!! Hard rock! Yeeeaaahhh!

- A shirt colour: black even if I do not stick to this colour.

A last word?
Thank you!

Interview with Iclo

If you have a closer look at laFraise.com on Facebook everyday, you might know who Iclo is. We wanted to get to know him, a bit more :-)

Hi Iclo,

Please introduce yourself in a few sentences, where do you come from and what do you do?

First of all I wish all laFraise community a Happy New Year! My name is not Iclo, I just put two letters backwards. I come from Normandy, south of it to be precise, and I followed my girlfriend to Limoges for her new job. It’s been said that travelling keeps you young and I want to stay young as long as possible … I was responsible for a product’s research and development, but since I’ve moved and the job situation bad, I am not against the idea of another career direction.

How long have you known laFraise and how did you hear about it? What do you like about it?

It’s been 2 years by now.  Was looking for a website with original shirts and especially kind of customised in some way. And after I found out some shops on the Internet, laFraise was the most obvious site that fit what I was looking for. I think the concept is just awesome, that people just can submit designs and vote. And then there is the limited edition, it’s great to own unique shirts but I like the hoodies as well.

What are your hobbies, passions and interests?

I’ve been playing handball for very long time and I got injured a lot because of it – but that’s the game.

Will I be original if I say that I go to the movies and love cultural nights out. I have a special passion for old cameras like the 6×6. And I’ll take this occasion to advertise here: I am currently looking for a Rolleifelx 4X4 Grey Baby, not expensive if possible, so if you guys hear about something, just let me know!

Iclo

Among all of your laFraise shirts, what are your top 3?

- Number 3 is “North Pole” by Oorion

- Number 2 is “Milk Shakes” by Scroluna

- Number 1 is “Little Bird” by Cosmosnail

Who is your favourite designer at laFraise?

I love Graet’s work and his style is awesome!!! I loved his cooperation with Multicrass for “Nyctophobie” the result kicks ass….

What are your expectations this year?

As for laFraise, more cool designs and more discoveries on Facebook. As for me personally, I wish for a job where I have fun. And I have a personal challenge: win the photo of the month once and enjoy 2012 as we are supposed to say goodbye forever on December 21st.

What would you be if you were:

A flower: Well it would be a thistle (because I sting J

An animal: It would be a hyena because we don’t speak too much about this animal and it is an important one. And being friend with a hyena could be more important than being a friend with ….. real friends.

A celebrity (Dead or alive): Carlos Slim Helu (The richest man in the world) but not only for this bank account.

A colour: blue like other boys.

A music genre: ska, electro, metal and rap but old one like NTM.

A shirt colour: Red is a nice colour for a t-shirt.

A last word?

A bus …. to all get in together and drive to Berlin for a party at laFraise .-) Seriously, continue enjoying laFraise and I’ll continue showing off my beautiful t-shirts.

Interview with MultiCrass

From KGE, on 2012-01-25 at 19:00

MultiCrass has been a member of laFraise since way back in 2006 when our strawberry was still ripe! Get to know a long time member of the community and what they are up to when not voting on designs!

Hi Multi,

Please introduce yourself in a few sentences, where do you come from and what do you do?
Hi Nath, and hi everybody! It’s not that complicated, I live in North of France and I work in Purchasing for a company that does industrial piping.

How did you discover laFraise?
My colleague Antoine “the IT boy” helped me discover laFraise in 2006, and since then I can’t stop loving these shirts! I love the unique designs and the principle of voting.

What are your hobbies, passions and interests?
I have several passions like rock music, drawing, gardening and basketball, but I like creating things the most. In music I love to write and play with my ukulele, and as for drawing I can create ideas for a t-shirt, for instance.

Among all your laFraise shirts, what are your top 3?
Too hard to make a top 3 because I love them all but the ones I wear the most are:
“Barbarpapa monkey“, “Tourteau suisse“ and “Your time“.

Multicrass

Who is your favourite designer at laFraise?
I have several … Graetz is one of my favourites, I love his style and I love Vermine01 and I did a cooperation with him. Pandaluna has a very good style, very simple but very efficient too. And georgeslemercenaire as well … well just great people on laFraise.com!!!

What are your expectations this year?
Between laFraise and me: a dozen of options on shirts!
Between me and the world: Survive and help the others.

What would you be if you were?
A flower: an orange blossom
An animal: A snail
A celebrity (dead or alive): Han Solo (but with a light saber!!!)
A colour: Orange (My fave colour!!)
A music genre: Rock or Disco, well let’s say Disco-Rock!
A shirt colour: Orange (Fave colour forever)

A last word?
Well, ah, I would say: “Gouleyant“!

Interview with Mylène our strawberry of the year 2011

From Nathalie (Crew), on 2012-01-18 at 19:00

itw teaserThis year we have decided to get to know you more, especially from the non designer side. Let’s start with Mylène our strawberry of the year 2011 , who is she, what does she like about our t-shirt?

Hi Mylène,

Introduce yourself in a few sentences, where do you come from and what do you do?
I am working on a masters in Human Resources in Lyon. I come from a small village between the Mountains in Savoie and the plains of Ain.

How long have you known laFraise and how did you hear about it? What do you like about it?
I think I have known laFraise for about 5 years and I do not remember how I found out about it. Maybe when I was looking for shops with limited edition shirts – and that is what I like at laFraise. I hate standing across from someone with the same look, and I worship t-shirts with messages.

What are your hobbies, passions and interests?
I took criminology courses from January to July last year, it had nothing to do with Human Resources but with HR it is about paying the bills and my interest in criminology is more of a passion. I am really interested in criminal affairs and news items. For a while I practiced shooting but I also love music and cinema.

Among all your laFraise shirts, what are your top 3?
Spot 7 differences” at first of course. This one made me win twice for the photo of the month!!!! “Lighting bird” makes me dream and “le penseur” with the Rubik’s Cube … was totally made for me!

Mylene

Who is your favourite designer at laFraise?
I love what Massala.K does (and thanks to you I now have an autograph of his, I’m happy!)

What are your expectations this year?
I’m calling for help! There was a submission with a goldfish and with some incoherences in the design and a friend of mine and I tried to explain to the designer what went wrong on this design. There are also a lot of fish designs at the moment and maybe the designer got scared but I wish this design would be submitted again, so if you are reading and recognize yourself, please I want it… This is an SOS! I expect more nice shirt designs from you, currently I have been less interested in shirts because I do not like the colour of the shirt or I do not like the design and I must say that I hate the colour green.

What would you be if you were:
A flower: A carnivorous plant. I am nice but do not mess with me!
An animal: A chameleon because I know how to adapt myself.
A celebrity (Dead or alive): Beethoven: just for the pride of having written Moonlight Sonata which is my favourite classical piece.
A colour: Blue
A music genre: Rock – Need some movement -
A shirt colour: Blue

A last word?
A kiss to all of you who made me as the strawberry of the year by voting with me! Love you guys!

Interview with Pasquéoz

supertoaster

Super toaster by Pasquéoz

A fun shirt for superheroes, we have asked for more to Pasquéoz !

Hi Pasqueoz, nice to see you again!
Hi, the same to you!

What is the story behind “Free toaster” and how did you get the idea? Why a superhero toaster?

I will try to schematize all of this

2007: Fell in love in the kitchen
2011: Restoration and changes … we changed everything from the fridge to microwave to electrical appliances and well the toaster … and what does a toaster do all alone in the kitchen all day long? It becomes a superhero of course!!

So superhero + toaster = Toaster the hero … well no super toaster … a more glamorous name That’s the story, did you get it?

And who is your favorite hero?
Superman! For simple and obvious reasons Underpants / Pento© / and an incredible ability to hide his cape under his jeans when he is in Clark modus

What do you think about the grandma superhero project “Mamika” whose grandmother was shot by grandson and Sacha Goldberger?

I guess they had lots of fun doing it, him and his grandmother, and I kind of like it!

Could you please draw a snowberry?
What about this?

Fraise des neiges pasqueoz

And, you Nath, could you draw US a snowberry?

I am not a designer, could have taken more time to do something better but challenge accepted :-)

Requiem for a tree

Requiem for a tree by MlleKarensac

A music t-shirt designed by MlleKarensac. Let her explain her design.

Hello Mlle Karensac, could you please introduce to the members of the community who don’t know you? How did you start into graphic design and why?

Hi laFraise! Happy to be here. I’m Camille Gautier, 21 years old, I live in Bordeaux and I’m doing a Masters in architecture. I’ve always loved drawing and my school notebooks are the proof of it. I found out about the contest more than a year ago and did it for fun. I didn’t expect to be selected, so I am very grateful and is motivating for the future. I’m still not the best with drawing and even less with informatics, so when I draw it looks like a makeshift job

What is the story of “Requiem for a tree” and how did the idea come to you?

The story is simple: The city is spreading and that leaves no place anymore for forests, only for one tree which was spared and becomes the symbol of the drama. Animals that used to live in the forest get together and play a requiem as homage to it. When I saw Princess Monoke for the tenth time, I got the idea and I wanted to draw something in relation to respect for nature and the problem of deforestation. And if you look closely, there is a hidden kodama in the leaves.

Do you like music and what kind of music makes you feel creative?

I love music like everybody else and at the moment I’m listening to Sufjans Stevens’ album “The age of adz”. In general I listen to electro, classical and rock music.

City or countryside?

It’s hard to choose, I would say a city not too far away from the countryside, so that I can enjoy a bit both.

Could you please draw a snowberry?

Thriller

Thriller by Eown

A zombie t-shirt as a hommage of the great MJ. The designer will explain.

Hi Eown, nice to see you around!

All the same for me!

What is the story behind “Thriller” and how did you get the idea?

I was looking for cult scenes in movies like my previous designs with Pulp Fiction and Bruce Lee … Then I thought about the music video for Thriller.

I guess you are fan of Michael Jackson: what is your favorite album and song of his?

I’m not a unconditional fan of Michael Jackson but I like listening to him now and then. My favorite song is Thriller and I think it is because of the video.

digital ruins our life

Digital ruins our life by emberplastik

A cassette design t-shirt for all nostalgics. Explanation from its designer.

Hi Emberplastik,

Please introduce yourself to those who do not know you yet? How and why did you get into graphic design?

Hi! My name Yoshi Andrian, emberplastik is my pseudo name which means plastic bucket. I started to fall in love with visual graphics ever since I could draw. I’ve worked as graphic designer from my college years to get extra money until now as my main job.

What is the story of “Digital ruins our life” and how did you get the idea?

I just love the shape of classic cassettes and how the graphics can be added to it. By its unique shape, I think there are still a lot of original ways to add graphics to cassettes to make them look more appealing. Unfortunately, it won’t happen because the cassette era is over. So this design is my visualization of hope to bring the cassettes back …. the shape of CD’s are sooo boring…

Do you own any vinyl records and did you keep your old tapes? Do you have a favourite set list of 5 songs?

It’s not easy to get vinyl in my country, Indonesia. I left my cassettes at my parent’s house and haven’t checked ‘em out until now 
5 favorite songs from my cassettes.
