Eco-friendly laundry

From mto, on 2008-05-04 at 10:03

Spreadshirt released recently a big article about how to "save" a t-shirt without using chemicals. You should read everything but here is a very interesting part for you dirty guys :)

  • chocolate ice cream– immediately apply sparkling mineral water and put the piece in the washing machine
  • beer – work it out with a mix of denatured alcohol and water or a mix of hot water and vinegar (1:8). Wash it out with cold water afterwards.
  • grass – treat the stain with denatured alcohol or enzyme containing soap. Let it sit for a few hours and then wash it. Soak old stains with citron juice.
  • ink – mix denatured alcohol and vinegar (1:1) (add citrus juice for white clothes). Wash out the rest with ox-gall soap.
  • salad dressing – dab with kitchen roll and put talcum powder on it.
  • coffee – dab with washing up liquid or glycerin, let it soak for about 30 minutes and wash it out with cold water.
  • ketchup – wash out with cold water, soak with washing up liquid (minimum of 30 minutes) and put it into the washing machine.
  • blood – immediately soak in cold water, add a handful of salt, and wash out out thoroughly after 15 to 20 minutes
  • puke – pull off all “lumps” with a kitchen roll, rub the piece with the stain under cold water, apply an eco-stain remover and put it into the washing machine.

Beer, blood and puke… what kind of life do they have???

OMG they killed Jared!!

From mto, on 2008-05-02 at 16:22

Well, I hope they didn't, but he's not there and, erm, it's Friday, and we're supposed to have a Friday game. I have no time to find a super idea, we're already late, I don't want the European community to be left alone, which means I'll choose the easy way…

The three members who get me the best ideas for a Friday game will win 2000 brouzoufs.

And they will also gain my eternal recognition :)

Saturday game: hire me!!

From mto, on 2008-04-12 at 16:01

Hello everybody! As you can see, it's Caturday and I'm still working. The reason is, even if we hired a lot of persons in the last weeks, laFraise could still have some more employees (instead of me working the day just after the release of Mario Kart Wii, which is a crime).

This new employee could be you.

For this Saturday game and until 7pm, you'll have to convince me to hire you. But you can't apply for a position that we already have in the company. You can't be a blogger, a product manager, a community manager, a partnership manager, a money manager (well as you can see, I'm the only one who doesn't manage anything). You'll have to find an indispensable job like, I don't know, ice-cream manager or design destructor. It's up to you.

Resume, letter, photo, video… do whatever you have to do. And win. Oh, of course, you can cheat, if you find a way.

Be funny and convince me: 2 500 brouzoufs are at stake!!

Friday game : Puzzle time

From Jouni_crew, on 2008-03-28 at 16:02

Since this is the last Friday game I’m hosting I really started digging through my mind for a game that would be appropriate for the situation. I don’t think I’ve ever done a puzzle game so it’s about time for one.

Below you see a 450 x 450 pxl image which is mostly black. To make this a bit easier the object in the image is a cover from a record. Your task is to tell me the artist and the song. A new image with more pieces will be added here every 5 minutes. The winner of the game will naturally be the user who gives me the correct answer fastest.

There are 81 pieces in the puzzle and the game would last almost 7 hours in case I revealed the pieces one by one and you wouldn’t know the right answer before the last piece. Naturally I don’t want that to happen on a friday afternoon so during the first 30 minutes of the game 1 piece is going to be added every 5 minutes and during the next 30 minutes 2 pieces are added every 5 minutes. After that I will reveal the whole cover and the first user to shout the answer will be the winner. Like pretty much always, the winner gets enough brouzoufs for a free t-shirt from our selection - shipping included.

Have fun and I’ll meet you in the comments of this entry. ;)

vlog: The weather worries me

From Jouni_crew, on 2008-03-26 at 10:07

When I look outside I’m truly worried and have been that way for years now. The climate is getting more random all the time. There currently a huge snowstorm going on outside – on the 26th of march. Some 20 years back we still had distinctive 4 seasons that lasted roughly 3 months each but now it seems like it’s quite possible to enjoy a beer on your backyard wearing a T-shirt and a pair of short on a Christmas day or go snowboarding in june. Well, maybe not quite like that but the seasons are definitely really messed up. Springs seem to be brief periods between winters and summers. Winters start way late and summers last until September. All this and still it seems like nobody really cares. When I’m writing this Kalle is reading news about a huge chunk of Antarctica breaking off again… and still some people claim global warming is nonsense.

Friday game : Easter Egg

From Jouni_crew, on 2008-03-21 at 16:00

Easter is celebrated quite differently depending on the culture but I still thought Easter eggs are a fairly safe subject. Today's Friday game is a virtual version of something most of us have probably done while we were kids; painting eggs. Download an egg-template from here, paint it with your favourite piece of software and send it to me.

The Easter vacation is 4 days long which means I'm going to be available again on tuesday. That's when I'm going to publish a gallery of the eggs you've sent me and announce the winner. So, you've got loads of time to complete this task. The winner gets enough brouzoufs for a free t-shirt from our selection (shipping included).Have fun and take it easy!

Bonsai tree v.2008

From Jouni_crew, on 2008-03-17 at 09:26

Lately I've been fascinated by all kinds of shiny black objects. The office space of Skye Design (my company) and Sabone Design (a friend's company – and yeah, I know we could've done a better job selecting the names) will be done totally using three colors; white, lime green (this is still yet to be discussed though) and lots of lots of black.

This is where I spend 8-14 hours a day

There has been some talks about buying plants but I'm not really too good with those. An idea of having two Bonsai trees and two pairs of tiny little tree clippers is loads of fun but somehow I'm sure my tree would just die in a couple of weeks. This morning I bumped into something that will solve that problem for me and all other laFraise community members that aren't born with a green thumb; A mechanical bonsai tree / clock.

Warp speed 4 to inner peace, Mr. Sulu

How neat is that? The base is black as it should be and the gear wheels are chrome. No need to clip this tree, ever. No need to water it. Ok, it won't actually grow or anything but what can you expect for ~65 euros? It might not be the best invention since sliced bread but way better than a cheese crust on on pizza anyway.

Friday game : Airtoons

From Jouni_crew, on 2008-03-14 at 16:00

Airtoons.com is a hilarious site that makes parody out of regular airline safety cards. You know, those funny clipart drawings that are stored conveniently in a seat pocket in front of you when you fly. It seems like they have dark little secrets and hidden meanings that aren't explained to the passengers. Today's Friday game is all about unveiling some more of them. Below you see 4 images. Write a text that explains each one of them individually.

The user with the funniest explanations for these images will win enough brouzoufs for a t-shirt of his/her choice from our selection. Shipping included as always. You've got until 9pm (GMT) to come up with the explanations and I will pick the winner on monday morning when I'm at the office again. Have fun!

The vacation is over…

From Jouni_crew, on 2008-03-12 at 15:38

…and I'm back!

After spending 4 days in Barcelona (this was my first actual vacation in two years) I feel like a totally new person. The city was beautiful, the weather was nice and warm, the food varied from decent to great (I especially enjoyed eating garlic mushrooms, batatas bravas, different kinds of local hams and drinking Cava), the sights were impressive (if you haven't been to Barcelona but plan on going there you've got to check out Sagrada Familia – the whole project is totally insane and most wonderful at the same time), the walls were asking for paint and it was awfully nice to meet up with a friend I haven't seen in a long time.

Colors, colors, colors!

"Loma" = "Vacation"

Muy Caliente

Anyway, enough about that. Slideshows about people's vacations bore the hell out of me and I'm sure my vacation photos aren't particularly interesting either. It'll take me a day or so to get back on track with the laFraise stuff but I'm working on many issues that should be quite something to wait for.

So, keep on rocking and reading the blog.

Style & Fashion & ……. what the hell?

From mto, on 2008-03-09 at 20:11

As you may have noticed, style is not just about wearing the coolest t-shirts ever made. Unfortunately. But here is something that could help you being perfect. A simple not-to-do list.

How many "mistakes" did you make today? Three for me. But it's a Sunday so we have kind of a permission, haven't we? Nope? Erm, sorry for my knee socks with skirt, mea culpa, sorry for my visible pantyline, and sorry for the holiday sweater. I'll try better tomorrow : /
