We print: the Winners of the Week!

Spring fever at laFraise!

Or how should we describe the impact of our this weeks winner “Pommes d’amour”?
The little worm seemed to be so impressing to you that we´ve had no other choice than to give it a chance for a tee. To be honest we´ve been convinced, that we´ve already seen all kinds of jokes concerning apples.. but we were wrong. Now, let’s see how it will perform on a shirt.

Our second winner is a special gift for our french fans who´d like to show their “sympathy” for parisienne people. If it would have been a Berlin Shirt, the pigeon would have been a dog instead. But this is not the right place for critics ;)
It´s Kreadid’s second win in two weeks… Seems like he has a run.

Bandy78’s design was nearly a print option by votes, but we´ve found the mixture of the famous “Moon Song” and the near release of “Echoes from the woods” was a bit too obvious. So we´ve decided to give it a podium, which is a good result for a newbie .
The “Samurai’s Life” was an old friend and re-entry from the Japan Contest and it’s beautiful mystic was worth a podium, too.

So congrats go out to all our participants! We´re courious about the next selection, which will include the results of the “make a vintage advert” contest. It’ll be exciting!

“Baby it´s cold outside” was not only a hit of Dead Dean Martin, it is also describing the weather in front of our office. And who would have thought?
It is the title of one of our selected winners! Trippe hit! But have a look at our selection of the week!

Once again we´ve had so many strong designs that we have to say “This wasn´t easy”

Could you please introduce yourself in a few words, tell us who you are and where do you come from? Could you tell us how and why you became a graphic designer?

My name is Budi Satria Kwan. I am from Indonesia. Designing, drawing and doodling have been part of my life since I was a kid. My parents (especially my mom) are really supportive. For 3 years when I was in elementary school, my parents would send me to a private drawing class after school. I laid my foundation there. Being a graphic designer just happens naturally I guess.

Could you tell us how did you conceive your design Weapon of choice and how did the idea come? What has inspired you and what is the story behind it?

Weapon of choice is something that everyone can relate to. An idea can become a bomb, affecting not only the originator but also all the people around. Think about all the great discoveries in the history of human kind. The discovery of light bulb, the computer, the internet. They are all bombs.

Are you concerned by environmental problems and if you could, what would you change or do to make it better?

Off course I do. I believe the reason for the environmental problems is because of over consumption. We can save the environment by sacrificing several stuffs which we do not need in the first place. It is inconvenient, but we should see it as an obligation rather than right. We have the obligation to conserve the environment. I believe the change can only happen from within oneself. If I could, I would make everyone realize about it and actually take action toward a sustainable world.

How long do you know laFraise and how did you know us?

I have known Lafraise for 6 years now. I stumbled across Lafraise by clicking a link on an artist’s portfolio website. Can’t remember whom though.

If you would recommend us, what would you say?

I would say Lafraise has a distinct style. Not everyone is Lafraise material. Lafraise also has some of the smartest designs.

Have you got other hobbies than drawing, which are?

I love swimming. I cycle twice a week. I hope to do them more often, but time does not allow.

What are your expectations for this year and the next one?

I expect to be more involved in offline art. Drawing with paint, paper, canvas used to bring me a lot of joy. Somehow I forgot about them. I also expect to have more designs printed, more clients and more new projects.

Could you please draw us your interpretation of strawberries with Chantilly cream? Thanks for the interview and the drawing!
